Wines
The cave d'Eymet
prides itself on its selection of top class local Bergerac and
Duras wines, the result of many evenings tasting the wines of
local producers. In addition its range extends to other areas
of France. All wines have been personally tasted and carefully
selected by Mitch. Wines are constantly being added to the range,
with future wine areas to include Italy, Spain, Chile, Australia
and New Zealand. Prices are extremely competitive and tasting
is free.
The following
wines, sherries, ports, champagnes and spirits are currently available:
- (in alphabetical order)
ARMAGNAC
Duc D'Eyssac (Direct from the producer - Gilles LHoste
at Averon Bergelle in Bas Armagnac)
VS matured in oak 4 years
VSOP matured in oak for 10 years
Hors d'Age matured in oak for between 15 - 20 years
Free tasting!!
Also available 1956, 1946 and 1947 (bottled on 23 June, 2006).
All vintages available from 1900 - (I need 48 hrs notice and will
collect them myself). Vintage cognac is forbidden in France, however
vintages are permitted in Armagnac with the date of bottling being
mentioned on the label or bottle.
Armagnac has been described as a more rustic spirit than cognac.
Because of the nature of its distillation - single, and the casks
in which it is aged (local Monlezun oak from forests in Bas-Armagnac),
it tends to be much more soft and round, and has a fuller flavour
both on the nose and palate.
